Wink 1970cst Transformation Update

My Truck

My bed

Well...my 70cst was picked up last Jan. 08 for its makeover. I was initially given 4-6 months for the project to be completed. My truck is having the following done: Rebuild/beef up the 402 and tranny (done), new interior, complete body and paint, install rear disc brakes, install "almost new" lwb ($1500) take off bed so this will eliminate bed/floor repair, rebuild factory ac system, install cruise, install intermittent wipers, etc...
Now after five months it looks like I am still another 3-4 months away from completion ....so some of you who are much wise than I who said it would take about a year...looks like you were right. I guess I would rather have it done right and take longer than do a rush job and regret it later.
Some of you say where is all my $$$ coming from? 1) instead of buying a new truck my $$$ is going into this truck, 2) I will be selling my 99 4x4 Toco TRD with 56,000 miles 3) I have been buying parts and saving $$$ for this since 2001.
I will never do any heavy hauling but just hauling odds and ends...yes I will only get about 10-12 mpg but I won't be driving this much plus...which would you rather drive...a new 2wd 1/2 Chevy truck or a fully reburbished 67-72 Chevy/GMC? Since you are reading this I think I know. Ok...now that I got this off my chest I feel better.

Re: 1970cst Transformation Update

I would rather drive one of our trucks then buy a new one. Maybe I am selfish....I dont want anyone to touch my truck! When I have done projects before....the body and paint has been done by someone else. I'm going that route this time. The waiting game kills me.
