New Seats
I went to the junk yard to get e new door because my wife kicked a big dent in it one night when we were fighting, she couldn’t get it started so she kicked it, I could have killed her. Anyways they had a 60-40 bench out of a 98 1500 for $250 so I bought it. I need to make a mount bracket for it but it’s in good shape, just dirty. I had them hook up a battery to make sure it all worked so it’s all good. This is exactly the seat I wanted too, I like it when things work out.
Oh yeah I got the door too, made her come down and pay for it (well it was my money but still it’s the principal).

Re: New Seats
a friend of mine gets square tubing and made a whole new set of seat brackets so he can have both seats move together with his console.. he used dodge caravan buckets and a regular chevy blazer/burb console
i know about principle and all but wouldnt it be easier to pop out the dent and fill it than to replace the door and have to paint it then??

Re: New Seats
i like the seats but they will be a p.i.t.a to make mounts for. i used 94 gmc buckets and im sure your new seats also have the seat riser as part of the movement guides, and unboltible from seat. leaving the base as they are will be fine as long as your only 4 feet tall. other then that depending on how you get them mounted you may have to drop your gas tanks down in order to bolt them up. i know i had to on my 84

Re: New Seats
I spent 3 hrs getting it to this point and I kept getting more pissed at her the more I worked on it. I’m not usually an angry person and I usually let things go but I can’t stand when someone purposely ruins something that belongs to someone else no matter how mad they are. So for the sake of our marriage….
On the other side I plan on listing it as soon as I get the other door finished, I figure someone in a rust infested area could use a rust free door with a small dent in it.

Re: New Seats
I did this same seat swap a few years ago. Here are pictures of the brackets. We formed a piece of metal strap to fit the shape of the floor, and cut the factory bracket and welded the strap to it.

Re: New Seats
Thanks! I wish I could take all of the credit, but a good friend of mine came up with the idea and did the welding, etc. My primary role was moving the seats in and out of the truck about a dozen times to take measurements, and handing him tools and beer.

Re: New Seats
Those seat mounts are cool. Do you still have plenty of knee room in the cab with the new model seat?
BTW, if your wife kicks that hard when she's mad, I'd probably try NOT to p-ss her off too much!!!! Matt |
