Need A/C, restore it or replace w/aftermarket?

Hey guys,

Just wondering what some of you may have done in your burb's for A/C? I have factory A/C (rear as well) in my burb, but it's never worked since I picked it up 2 years ago.

The Florida summer heat has arrived and toting our 7 month old daughter with the windows down just ain't cutting it anymore. The wife said I've gotta put A/C in it! I was gonna wait till I started customizing it at the end of the year, but guess I'll get a head start.

I've searched the forums here and all are based on pickups, whoopie, a single cab, it should be real cold or real hot depending on whats needed, coming from ANY system I'd think.

I'm wondering what experiences you have with A/C in your burb, what works, what to stay away from, etc?

We are planning on charging up my son's AC in his 72 Burb which has the stock system in it with rear air. I can give you some feedback next week on how well it works.

(Of course it does not get as hot here as it does in Florida).

I am planning on putting in a Hot Rod Air dual evaporator system, it was referred to me by someone that put in a original unit and did not like it, I am not sure why, but he switched over to the HRA unit and loves it.

I got my son's AC charged up and checked out. The front and rear blows cold air. The system is working well.
