Now that the Phoenix is almost complete, (just a few adjustments, and a bed liner left) I figured it was time for a portrait.

I bought a new Alfa Romeo 1300 GT in 1969, and this old girl is giving me the same warm feelings.

The only thing I am unhappy with is the replacement tailgate. The metal is very thin, and the fit is the ****s. Any recommendations for a proper one?

Hey, Dave, Washington is right next door. Now that I have a vehicle I enjoy driving, I'll be watching this forum for a get-together within a few hours' drive.

As I was idling off the dock after photographing the truck, there was a guy walking towards me. I saw the appreciation break over his face, and as I approached, his expression changed when he realized that this didn't sound like it should, then his expression changed again when he realized it was a diesel, and he stopped, and watched me drive by. It's nice when somebody "gets it".

What did you have to do to install the 6.2? Any special mods? This truck is NICE!

I wasn't involved in the trade over, but Jens tells me that the engine and tranny bolted right in with no mods. We modified the dash cluster by installing the glow-plug indicator light in an empty bezel.

Ok, what did I do wrong? Uploaded a small pic of the sign above. How come it didn't show up?

I'm in a line of traffic this morning going about 35-40 mph, and there is a line coming opposite, and all of a sudden there's Bambi, right in front of me running from left to right. I hit the binders, but there was no time. Wham, I caught Bambi broadside with all wheels locked solid.

As soon as she bounced I let off the brakes, and steered to the shoulder to get clear of the traffic behind. Bambi's momentum had carried her onto the wide shoulder, and as I slid to a stop, she struggled to her feet and limped down into the thick bush without giving me her contact information. She probably had no liability insurance, anyway. I got out and went around to look at the damage.

We have another hood, so I'll get it up to Aaron Chadwick tomorrow, and order a new grill and insert from Gasoline Alley tonight.

Since it's gonna cost close to a grand to fix the hood and grill, and I don't have that much to spare these days. (Property Tax time) I figured I'd make a bit of lemonade with this particular lemon, and at least evoke a few smiles around town until I can afford to get the repairs done.

Thanks, I wish the grey had been a bit darker.
