removeable fleet tailgate

I have an idea for how to make this happen but want to know if anyone else had any ideas. I will make the trunion into a flattened oval and cut a slot in the gate pocket. probably about 1/2" wide.

I looked at an 87 yesterday. they seem to have the same bolt pattern and shape of trunion. maybe I ould swap one of those in.
