72 blazer
I have a 72 blazer it has been lowered, before i bought it. the problem is that is bottoms out in the rear, the rear shocks look pretty small, there pretty much useless, would an air shock system be the way to go or air bags?
thanks terry |

Re: 72 blazer
If you would be able to post some pics of the Blazer, we might be able to answer this question a little better. The PO (previous owner) might have just cut the springs, and not added shock relocators can cause it to slam into the tub when you hit a dip in the road. A bagged suspension would be a great addition to the Blazer, if you have the money. If you're looking to correct this problem cheaply, I would consider picking up some new rear springs and shock relocators from a vendor such as ECE (Early Classic Enterprises) or CPP (Classic Performance Products.
Good luck with the build!

Re: 72 blazer
Or this could be a solution as well. As mentioned earlier, pics would help determine what you're running with currently.
If you need help on posting pics check out this link...

Re: 72 blazer
If you put air bags on it you can adjust the ride height to eliminate the bottoming out. Then set it in the weeds when you park it. Mine is notched like yours. Here's a pic of it aired out. Welcome to the board. Post some pictures of your ride. Everyone loves 2wd blazers.

Re: 72 blazer
Nice blazer. I have bags front and back, but you could just add them in the rear if thats what you wanted. The rear was really easy. just remove the springs and drill three holes in the frame. One for the air fitting and two for the bag mount. The lower section bolted on with the existing hole in the trailing arm.

Re: 72 blazer
That is one sick Blazer! If you are looking to have a Cadillac ride, and sports car maneuverability, look no further than baggin' your truck. Check out the following sites for products:
Air Ride Technologies SuicideDoors If you need more info on the installation of a bag suspension, be sure to search through the Suspension forum of the board. If you look in my signature, there is a FAQ link, and it should contain a few threads about bagging your blazer. Good luck with the suspension rebuild!

Re: 72 blazer
I would strongly suggest relocating the shock mounts before any other mods. The angle of the shocks looks like they're probably not doing their job correctly.

Re: 72 blazer
the guy i bought this from reversed the outside handle to the inside. he had started to wire the latch to a push button switch that is mounted on the driver side door. i never finished it off because my plan is to get a soft top on it.

Re: 72 blazer
I second that, and it needs to be addressed if you bag it anyways.
