I more or less inherited this truck recently. Any ideas on it?

Thanks

Re: Recent acquisition

Long bed step sides are rare. I'll take it.

Re: Recent acquisition

Man, looks like someone got it stuck in the mud a while back and just left it there!

Re: Recent acquisition

I think it's a 4x4.

Never seen a lifted long step. Bet it would look pretty good. I always thought LWB trucks look better lifted than SWB ones.

Re: Recent acquisition

If I were you I'd get rid of it. It has a bent hood. I will try and come get it if you like.........

Just kidding, keep it and restore it,then give it to me.
Boy, I am funny today. Had a nice camping weekend with some friends. Now I am home and reallity set in.

Re: Recent acquisition

First off, if you did in fact "inherit" it, make sure you straighten out the title and ownership paperwork before you put a dime into it. After you accomplish that, you should restore it. Those long wheel base stepsides are scarce! If you can't get clean ownership papers, you have two choices. 1) part the truck out and scrap the rest. 2) make a mud bog truck out of it, something you will never be able to plate and drive on the streets.

Re: Recent acquisition

Check the frame for rot, depending on long it's been sitting like that.

Re: Recent acquisition

I say more or less inherited it. It’s been in the family for 20+ years. My brother drove it in high school, and his senior year (93) it was parked right where you see it. Something happened to the drive train, which that means it started making a strange noise. I was definitely not as mechanically knowledgeable as I am now, and I am finally at a point in life that I can start working on it. From my experiences/breakages with my 95 dodge 12v Cummins NV4500 I know plenty about trannys. Lol

But I do plan to get this truck back in street able shape. It is a 4x4, long bed, step side (obviously). It will need fairly extensive body work as it has been severely neglected.

Any ideas on what it might be worth now, and if fully restored? Just curious…not planning on getting rid of it since it has pretty good family history tied to it.

Thanks guys.

Re: Recent acquisition

Even the best of our trucks ain't worth much, dude. I would recommend not looking at it like that. Try to see it as family history and just plain fun.

*Ninja edit*
I forgot all about Shamil's long step. I think his is 4x4 also.
