Tilt column for a 87 - what years fit?

Thinking of buying an 87 stepside and would like to install a tilt column. Can anyone tell me the years that would fit this? It has cruise if that makes a difference.

Thanks.

I believe 82-87 will fit. The years also might be 73-87. I'm sure someone will correct me if im wrong.

You will need a column from an '85 up because the wiper controls are on the dash for all of the previous years. I did this swap a couple of years ago and it was quite easy. If you happen to find a donor truck with an intermittent wiper switch make sure you take the delay control module as well. The swap itself is pretty easy. Just be careful with the "break away" bolts. I happened to get a column with the ignition keys in it so I didn't have to change the lock cylinder. If you happen to get a column like this make sure you get the VIN number off the other vehicle in case you have to get keys made.

If I was going to do the job again I'd put a new turn signal/wiper switch in right away. Save some pain down the road when it's in the vehicle.

Hope this info helps

My dads 84 has wiper controls on the turn signal lever.

I agree it's 84 and up. My 84 had the controls on the column.

If you need help let me know. I just did this on my 79 (column). Also if you need help taking out the lock cylinder I can help with that as well. I've torn into my old column a few times
