New pictures of a beat up old '63
I know ... why does he think we want to see more pictures of that beater? Good question, to which I have no answer. Here they are anyway.

Re: New pictures of a beat up old '63
Thanks, guys.
Actually, the more I think about this, the funnier it is to me. The old thing really doesn't have much paint left. But I do my best to keep it clean and polished up. When it comes to that "paint job", I'm kind of like an old man with a comb over. Yeah, the paint is gone, but I'm going to milk that one strand for all it's worth. |

Re: New pictures of a beat up old '63
Here's kind of a funny little side note. Last weekend I had it in a car show at the furniture mart, and it won a third-place trophy in the truck class. It's because people voted on what vehicles they wanted to win, and I had the "Mater Face" taped to it. Still, I always think it's funny when the old heap beats stuff that's really quite a bit nicer.

Re: New pictures of a beat up old '63
Love that patina look. Are you going to leave it at the stock ride height? A couple inches lower and some wide whites would be *****in'!

That ain't no patina look, that's the real thing!
I don't frequent the 60-66 forum, but was drawn in by the posting title. I like "natural" trucks. That's a great truck! -Todd

Re: New pictures of a beat up old '63
I use to like the 64-66's more (I still like them) but now I've become partial to the '63, wonder if it has anything to do with me owning a '63 short step now. Great truck man.

Re: New pictures of a beat up old '63
Thanks, guys. You're gonna give me a big head about the old thing.
I think the Crystal Turquoise color it's supposed to be is really good lookin', and if I had the time and money, I'd happily straighten it out and repaint it. But for now, I don't. And honestly, I don't have to worry about it too much the way it is. My son likes it, and we have fun with it, so that's what it's all about anyway. My "fantasy" involves painting it back the original colors, maybe lowering it a smidge, Something like Spider Caps (I love those, but if I leave it a six-lug, I'll have to come up with an alternative), two spotlights, hand-lettered signs on the door from my grandad's car lots he had from the 1930's to the '60's, a little subtle pinstriping, and a split manifold. I've had it for years, though, and I'm not in any hurry to do anything I regret. There are a lot of guys with a lot of really nice trucks on here, so your comments are not only suprising, but really nice too. Last edited by Revoh; 07-08-2008 at 10:53 AM. |

Re: New pictures of a beat up old '63
thats a cool truck, I like your neighborhood too, reminds me of home. would make for some cool landscape shots, maybe a little further away with the lense at the ground with that mill in the background. have your kid in front of the truck with an old cane fishing pole... neat pictures
