fix the fitment of the dash on a 61????
Ok so on my truck the dash center seams to fit very poorly. theres a pretty good size gap and its not level with the side portions that are a part of the cab.
Has anyone else had this and fixed it or better yet smoothed it completly? I know it seams kinda trivial but I just know I will notice it EVERY time I get in the truck. I can snap a pic in case anyone doesnt know what im talking about. Ill have to get better pics in daylight but this is the driver side and pass side is a little bit worse.

Re: fix the fitment of the dash on a 61????
Yep I tweaked mine into place, but I struck it by the pinch weld and down underneath. Then I welded it up and smoothed it over. I can get pics if you want. That bugged me too.

Re: fix the fitment of the dash on a 61????
Nice work Soba. Here's mine. I've only done the passanger side and it's not quite done but I took some shots of the drivers side for your showing where I made my tweaks to line it up. Also tossed in some shots of the rest of the dash (dirty little...).

Re: fix the fitment of the dash on a 61????
mine is like that too. at first I thought the cab was bent, then I noticed most of the 60-3's I looked at were like that.

Re: fix the fitment of the dash on a 61????
Friz, on the shot of the dash (Drivers Side) did you use the lower portion of a glove box door to fill in the holes where the lighter, ignition, choke, lightd etc go? If not please share, looks great! Thanks

Frizz,
Looks great, what are your plans for heat and cool. I see that you smoothed the dash. Aftermarket vintage air set up? Just wondering. Looks great. Thanks for all of the Kudo's Folks but I can't take the credit. It's a friend of mine doing the work. My thoughts his time. |

Re: fix the fitment of the dash on a 61????
AWESOME!
OK Friz, so if I see that correctly you moved the CAB side of the dash to line it up? I would LOVE to make my dash look just like that, With the exeption of vintage air controls and some A/C vents. (I havent choosen a style yet) Also my pass side has about 1/2" gap at the bottom that tapers up to almost nothing. SO does that mean I need to move the dash at the bottom of the glove box? or wpould it be better to fill it? maybe Ill have to look it over better to see how much tweaking I can do before the whole dash looks twisted. I still havent got home soon enough to take daylight pics.

My plans are to buld a seamless console that extends down from the dash similar to the 63 vette: Then I'll layout whatever I decide to put in there. |

Thanks Frizz I look forward to seeing it when it's completed.
KD, Yeah that is the Burb, now you can see why I needed the paint codes..Imagine this that all started with a Windshield seal replacement. That is a Friend of mine's Mug you see in the shot... I'm the shooter... It's going to be so sweet once it's all done... |

Re: fix the fitment of the dash on a 61????
OK here it is. It looks to me like I may need to move the dash. Im waiting for a new garge door so I can put the truck inside and start tinkering.
drivers side seams to be too high on the dash in relation to the cab. hacked up center needs to be smoothed completly pass side dash bottom seams to be too far forward but lines up pretty good up and down

Re: fix the fitment of the dash on a 61????
If it were me I would try moving the dask on the drivers side to see if I could pick up the difference. Same with the passengers side.

Re: fix the fitment of the dash on a 61????
Yep, looks like you need to move the dash to align it verticaly and get the gaps straight then tweak the A-Pillars as needed to get the surfaces aligned.
