Whats the best way to store truck outside? Losing Garage for awhile...
ok guys, I'm looking for some solid help here. I'm fixing to move to the new house and won't have a garage or shop for a little bit, so the rides gonna have to tough it out in the weather. What is the best way to protect it? It still has no glass in the cab, and the bed is at a different location. Remember it has chrome suspension parts (RUST!!!) Just wrap the thing in a big tarp?
Or maybe someone who has a new big shop would like to store it..... ------------------ Prost68trk web page or btshaffer@wmconnect.com '68 short/wide, 402BB/TH400, '81 rear frame rails, F@rd 9" 31 spline, leaf springs moved inboard, shaved firewall, cab seam, wiper cowl, dash, hood ridge, chrome drivetrain. That's what I would do. Just make sure that it's secured real well so the wind don't blow it off. I'd try to take the tarp off and let it dry out as much as possible. You don't want the tarp on the paint if the paint is good.

I didn't look at your profile to see where you're from, but if you're back east, I'd put a tarp or plywood under the truck, too, to keep the dew and humidity from the grass from rusting your underside. Just something my dad always told me.

wd-40 works great to prevent moisture build- ing up on things. ive had some trouble with rust coming from between the leaf springs after every wash. spayed them with wd a few weeks ago and havent seen any since. my truck sits outside all year. just an ideau may try for some things.

I would put it on jack stands just enough to keep tires off ground so they dont dry rot.

Cool, thanks for the tips guys. The truck is still in primer and the tires are just rollers for now. The jack stands sound like a do-able thing. Maybe a tarp on the ground under the truck also?
