Transmission question
I just aquired a 1980 GMC 1/2 ton 4x4.. with a brand new TH350. Can I or how do I make that work in my 81 2WD?

Re: Transmission question
you'll have to pull the rear of the tranny apart and change the internal shaft after you lose the 4 wheel drive part

Re: Transmission question
find a transmission shop willing to trade the 4wd for a 2wd. the only real difference is the output shaft and tailhousing or lack there of but you have to completely disassemble the transmission to swap the output shaft. if you don't want the transfer case you might be able to find a shop willing to do the transmission trade/swap if you give them the transfer case in addition to the 4wd th350.

Re: Transmission question
is the truck dropped? if not go the cheap way and let the transfer case hang out, and use the 4x4 rear driveshaft!

Re: Transmission question
It's still the stock height. Anyone got a ballpark on how much a t-case and 1 year old TH350 out a 4x4 is worth? The trans has only 3k miles on it at most.
