Need a new carb for my '70 cst/10

The best carb I ever had was a Holley Street Avenger. They all work well when set up properly though.

Q-Jets are the best all-around but you will get more grunt from an aftermarket carb, just decide what set of minor irratations bothers you the least. AFBs are easier to tune properly than Holley types, but they have more vapor problems.

I think the OP needed some help, since he bought a new edel already. The question is the throttle is too long and no vacuum port. First is the throttle a cable or a rod? if a rod, a new one may be needed or made or if a cable, it should have an adjustment, if not a new adjustable one may be needed. For the vacuum, the edel has the port on the front as well as a port on the rear, but it may have a black allen plug in it, pull the plug and get a threaded hose barb and you are good to go, hope that helps??

I assum you you have a throttle rod & , not a cable. if its a rod go to the hard ware store & buy a peice of threaded rod & cut it the length you need it & you will also have endless adjustment. ive seen this on a car before cant remember what carb it had.

Or the throttle rod from a 6cyl will work just fine in the v8's spot, used one on a buddy of mine's truck because of the same exact problem of it being too long and not having enough adjustment. As far as the port on the back of the carb, you may have to use the port in the manifold behind the carb for your hookup.

I know a lot of guys run without it but you should really get the throttle rod stud that Edlebrock sells. If you look back at the picture I posted on page 1 you'll see the piece I'm talking about. There is no chance of that rod stud binding while just pushing your throttle rod in the arm on the carb could bind. It would really suck if it binds at wide open throttle.
