Question about purchase
Hello everyone I am kinda new here.I am wanting to buy a 67-72 step side or short bed.Perfer 67-68 step side but will considr others.I am looking to spend 8-10,000 dollars.How nice of a truck can I expect to find for this amount?Originality means nothing to be as I would rather have hot rod.

Well when i picked mine up it Was 5,000 69 swb with a 84 350 in it very Nice Paint( Bought it from a painter) turns out he was good at hiding stuff. Very straight frame.
ide say right now with economy and such you could pick up a very nice one for 8-10k

8-10k...WOW...you should get a really nice ride that should win a few show and shines! At least in this part of the country.

If you take your time and look around you can find an excellent truck for 8-10K. If you are willing to do any of the work at all, you could find a potential show winning truck that needs to be finished up for less possibly. I've seen some amazing trucks sell on here recently as projects that didn't need much to be a show winner but the owner wasn't able to complete them due to health/money/career/other projects, etc. I would definitely check under the truck at the inner rockers, under the carpet, behind the kick panels if you can remove them, under the bed, etc to see how well the job was really done. At that price, i'd probably pay for an independent inspection unless you feel very comfortable looking for everything yourself.
If you're concerned about resale, a shortbed fleetside seems to be the way to go, but the stepsides and even the longbeds have been going for good money lately. It's really about research and timing. I've been watching ebay lately and most show quality trucks have been going for mostly 25-75K, but I have also seen some sell under 10K that look just as good as the others so timing can be key. |

welcome to the board from just up the road.
Being familiar with the trucks in this reigon, I say you look for one that is only 7 - 9K, and spend 1000 bucks getting it shipped from the southwest to ohio. Most local trucks are craptastic at best with gobs of bondo. I was just lookin at a 'nice survivir' yesterday, original paint, and looked VERY nice for our reigon.... and it still needed 3 to 5k in paint and body to be nice. Look on e-bay and southern cali/arizona/new mexico's craigs list... you'll get a feel for what to expect. And if you are new to this model truck, or classic vehicles all together, i highly recomend posting links here for us to scrutinize, and/or paying for 3rd party inspections. |
