Need info on drop hitch/gas gauge problem

I have a 67 chevy, and had it for about 13 years. I have no clue when my gas gauge stopped reading. I have to make sure its always full...lol. I'm getting about 16mpg now on a stock 350, RV cam, and 4.11 gears. It may need a new fuel sending unit in the tank, but not sure. As far as the drop hitch goes, I need to pull a 2001 dakota cc to the races and shows. wheres a good place to buy? Also, did these trucks ever have bumpstops on back? My guess is no, but its very possible sense 67, that they could have come out...lol. Where and how can I but some in there?

Thanks, I'll just have to test it. It says that it should go to empty when you test it and full when you are not? Thats what I got, my be wrong, but mine is stuck at empty and it never moves.

I got a reciever hitch at Orilley's It was about $130. class 4, I am impressed with the quality. It is heavy duty. You may only need a new float on your sending unit.

I was thinking about the float idea, because the truck sit for about 4 years, I think, a couple years ago. I have had it for about 13 years, but I was younger, and didn't have the cash to keep everything up, just so the engine had plenty of hp...lol. If it sit for as long as I'm thinking, I know the gas tank was close to empty, and that the gas had a smell like varnish...lol. I almost bet that the thing froze up, I put my money on it. Thanks, on the parts store hitch idea, people say don't use a universal hitch, but don't they all bolt on the same pretty much? They almost all bolt on, on the bottom/underside of the frame. I will be pulling my '01 dakota cc, and tried to see if the hitch that cam off it would work, nope, its about 2 or 3 inches wider. I'll look into one from there, but I need one soon and don't want to wait 3 to 6 weeks for one to be shipped to me.

Yeah, I am from Hot Springs...therer are a few of us here on the board.

The hitch I got is not a universal hitch, it is for our trucks...well, for 63-87 chevy trucks. I had to drill 3 holes per side.

I'll go by tomorrow, got a friend of the family that works at one of them in Fort Smith, and I can get his discount. I think the one on LMC Truck is around $200, but I can't remember.
