1963 vs. 1964 cab decision

I would like to here some opinions why I should stick with the 63 cab instead of putting the 64 on instead. I like the style of the 64-66 better, but I do not see too many 63's around. If anyone has any pictures of 63 stepside trucks please show me some inspiration. I will be posting pictures of my build soon. Thanks

The wrap-around windshields definitely look better on the stepsides IMO. I do like the 64-66 cabs for fleets though.

Re: 1963 vs. 1964 cab decision

just a matter of personal preference, be careful about the legal aspect, not sure the laws in your state, if you use the '64 you would have to either have a title for the cab (then the vin won't match the frame) or put the 63 vin on the '64 cab, which i believe is illegal in my state, check your local laws. I personally like them both, and want several of each

Re: 1963 vs. 1964 cab decision

I've had a 63, 62, and now a 61 so you know what I like! But I'm going to build a 66! I like them all, but I do prefer the 60-63 cabs. Here is a pic of my 62 I used to own.

Re: 1963 vs. 1964 cab decision

64....64...64... I built a 63C10. you can see it in my avatar or at www.MarkBarbee.com It depends on what you are going to do to it. I "suicided" the doors and took out the wing window. Now I want to fab one piece power windows (having a working model but it binds every 10th time). If you go with a 64 you do buy a one piece window kit. no one, I REPEAT, no one makes a one piece power window kit for a 60-63. So think ahead on what your plans are.

Just get one of each and swap them out every couple weeks to keep it fresh!

Re: 1963 vs. 1964 cab decision

YOLO I was lookong at your truck in the custom classic truck mag when writing this whole thing up. Great truck I even have the red version of the truck too. Thanks for your thoughts everyone that answered. I do own a 66 fleet longbed right now, I use it as a driver. The 63 I purchased for 500 and it came with full floor patches rockers and much more. I will post picts soon. Here is my 66, it looks good in picts and from 15 feet away.

I like the 63's just because you don't see as many of them. I love the wrap-around windshield, and the dash has more style too. Here's mine

Re: 1963 vs. 1964 cab decision

Pick the one that has the less work to do on it. My first truck was a 1960 C-10 Apache.. Now it is a 65.. I like them all. I prefer the 64-66 but the 60-63 have that special look to them.

Re: 1963 vs. 1964 cab decision

If you notice my pic icon you'll see which one I'd choose. I like the wrap around windshield and the dash on the early 60's more, I still like the 64-66 trucks though. Orange66, you can resize pics with a picture editing program, there's also several sites that will let you resize your photos, can't think of any sites at the moment though. PM me if you need any help.

No other series of trucks went thru as much major styling changes as the 60-66 era, and that is what makes this era special.

Re: 1963 vs. 1964 cab decision

If you are running XP scroll down on this link and get the image resizer on the right. It's the best one out there. You can select multiple pics and resize them all with a simple right-click. "Medium" is what works well for attachments on this board.Linky

Re: 1963 vs. 1964 cab decision

The thing I love about my 63 fleet.. To me it's the 50's meet the 60's.. It's windshield and door windows are straight 1950's, yet the rest of the truck is 1960's.. The transisional period is what I like..
