What is this wire?

The one that is green then goes white? It was grouped (by the PO I believe) with the yellow and purple wires that go to my starter. It has a push-on connector on the end of it. Oh yeah nice wiring.. thx PO!

Thx for the answer 67 sub.... I thought that's what it might be.

I dunno. Haven't traced it all the way.... it's rapped in about 10,000 ft. of electrical tape. Thinking it's something else?

Re: What is this wire?

DKGreen is the official wire for temp sending unit, and if it's also got the push on, I'd put $10 on it - bet it goes to the bulkhead connector next to steering column.

Re: What is this wire?

Yep, you guys were right. Thanks! Took off all 9,999 ft. of electrical tape and traced it to the bulkhead connector. Looked it up on my wiring diagram and there it was. Guess I should've traced it to begin with, but the heat makes me lazy. I just end up doing more work in the end though.

Actually, I was just making sure you guys were on point.

Re: What is this wire?

I copied and pasted some wiring schematics to another thread asking what this wire goes to. Another member posted them awhile back and I just copied and pasted, they may come in handy if you don't have one?

Re: What is this wire?

Yes, those diagrams on that thread were a big help. They were color coded, unlike the printed version I have. (Why don't they do those in color?!) The fact that it "morphs" from green to white threw me off.

So do those wires just connect to that bulkhead with a push on connector? Thinking I could just run new wires to my starter since those are "engineered".

Re: What is this wire?

Well, there are a series of connectors that push into the bulhead (plastic plug) then the bulhead goes into the back of the fuse box. NAPA sells the blade type plugs needed to replace the whole wire, or you can cut and splice a new wire near the bulkhead (solder connections ensure no loose connections).

I know how that is. I keep finding more and more redneck rigging done on my '63 by one of the PO's. If you're not gonna do it right then don't do it at all.
