Core Support Color
I modified a GMC grill so that I can use it on my 68 chevy by removing the headlight buckets and cutting holes for the headlight adjusting screws. So now I'm at the point where I'm going to sand blast it and get it ready for paint.
I've seen some core supports painted the body color and they look good, but then again, leaving it black looks fine too. The truck is going to be a show/weekend cruiser/drag racer; just so you know the applicatoin And the inner wheel wells will be painted body color. Help me decide.

Re: Core Support Color
I like black, it will be a nice contrast to the body color/firewall/inner fenders, imo

Re: Core Support Color
I voted keep it black but I prefer them to be more than 'just black'.
From the front view (thru the grille), I like them black. From the engine compartment side of things, body color works well. When you peer thru the grille & see so much body color, the grille gets 'lost' if that makes sense . . .....

Re: Core Support Color
Scoti has the right concept. I'll go further and say two tone it.
IMHO, choose a few things to highlight in your engine bay then leave everything else the same color...therefore, you immediately lead the eye without any visual "blocks". Any part of it you can see through the grill do in flat black. Just my .002 |

Re: Core Support Color
black on top, in front, on the back, on the bottom.... body color looks too much like the 90's crap to me where they'd paint everything the same color. I used to tell ppl that for a few bucks more, the painter woulda taped off the bumpers.

Re: Core Support Color
I voted custom, but a lot depends on the truck's color. Mine is black, but then so is my entire engine compartment. It hides better behind the grill as black, but the 67 opening's hide more than the 69-72's so the colored core support wouldn't stand out quite as much.
