The 4 cylinder was actually the base engine until 1986. The horsepower was downgraded in 1985 from 92 HP in previous years to 88 HP for the '85 and '86 years. You're right though, rare does not mean desirable. The best thing about those cars were the 4.10 geared rearends. We used to buy the rearends on the cheap to use in street/strip thirdgens back in the day. A 4.10 geared 4 cyl camaro/firebird reared would really wake up a 2.73 or 3.08 geared IROC or T/A!

BTW--I'd love to own one of those "while being real neat... is ugly" decorated trucks (may have something to do with the era I was brought up in...

I actually thought of doing something simular when I was going to build my 67 as a 1 ton. But now its gunna be a
K10.
