what should i look for..........

i talked to the guy who has a 72 swb 3/4 ton today. he stopped in to look at my truck. we started talking and i found out his truck was actually a short bed cut down. so that means the frame has been cut.
what should i look for to be sure im not getting a crooked piece of junk ?
thanks for any info/tips ya can give me
just really wish it was a trailing arm 1/2 ton. not really gonna need that dana 60 with 4:11's in it (more than likely) and really want a turbo 400 under it instead of the 4 speed.
later

Well, check the usual rust spots, cab corners, rockers, floor. Check where he cut the frame and see how he welded it back together. Take pics so we all can see it too.

Measure, measure, measure. BTW if you don't like the trans, rear, rear suspension, why not keep looking, Short beds that are near rust free in AZ aren't too hard to find?

If it is to good to be true....it prob is. Remember that.
I have not seen what you are looking at....just want a fellow member to take care in making the right choice. Good luck and post pics, everyone will chime in after that.
