97-98 dash, seats in a 69?
i've been searching for the past 3 days, for a picture i saw of a 67-72 with a dash from a 97 or 98 truck. my idea is to put that dash with the seats, and carpet in my 69. my biggest concern is weather or not the steering column with tilt from that truck will fit in my truck. any ideas
heres a pic of the style

No offence, but your going to do all that modding, and your worried weather or not if the column will work.
I don't see why not because they still use the same type steering box. And if you put the dash in. the mounting area should be the same. You might have to lengthen or shorten the steering column shaft going to the steering box. But that should be simple enough since it is suppost to have a sliding shaft for a frontend collision purposes. That's my $.02 worth

i dont know much about the steering columns but i just figured if everyone uses a van tilt instead of a truck tilt, maybe there was a reason

Re: 97-98 dash, seats in a 69?
If you are refering to the original style columns for these trucks. Then the reason for using a van tilt, instead of a truck tilt is because cost. A truck tilt cost alot more than a van tilt. And a van tilt is easier to find. Hope that answers your question. But if you are going to do the newer dash conversion I would use the steering column from the donor truck, just for the "LOOK" purpose.

very similar to that, except i want the full dash. there was a thread a couple weeks ago, someone was asking about custom dashes and someone posted a pic of one with a full 98 dash. either way, do you have more info on that truck, maybe a build thread?

Re: 97-98 dash, seats in a 69?
You'll definitely want to use the same column as the dash. The reason is that dash is molded for a "rectangular shaped" column where it meets the dash. If you use a normal round column, you will have a large unsightly gap there. Not to mention rewiring will be easier if you retain as much of the dash/column as possible.

It's a catastrophic success.

With a complete dash swap, your only real trouble will be where it goes through the floorboard. May have to cut you a patch out of the donor truck.
