update on 71 i was gonna look at............
ok went and checked it out today. didnt even talk to the lady that ownes it cause its way to far gone for me. both rockers are trash, bed has some damage that would be hard to fix (around tail lights etc.) floos might be ok but i only looked at rockers and inner rockers /underneath before i got back in my truck and left. just way to much work for me. ill spend more money and get a truck thats already had this stuff done or already done all together. just not worth my time/money to screw with the rust.
might be worth while to some of you to check it out. 602 386 0160 in phoenix later lance Last edited by QKENUF4U; 09-14-2008 at 07:12 PM. |

Re: what would you offer for it.........
Around here in Nor Cal, that might be a tad high, but not really too far out of line.
Just my .02.

Re: what would you offer for it.........
That seems to be inline with the going rate. Also what engine and transmission does it have?

Re: what would you offer for it.........
I sold mine a few months ago for $2,500 and it seems to be in a similar condition. So it seems a little high unless it a has a big block.

Re: what would you offer for it.........
Good luck finding something that doesn't need rockers however, being one that has done it, it's pretty strait forward and not as difficult as it seems. I wouldn't not buy one becuase it needed rockers if everything else was worth the price.

Re: what would you offer for it.........
i'd wait it out. around here money is really tight and large vehicles and trucks are really a hard sell. you might b able to wait a month or two then when its getting into the holiday time offer a loball $1500 or so for it// but if you're in love with the thing and feel like it's a must do deal start around $2700 with your first offer and maybe be willing to gradually increase to a max of $3000

Re: what would you offer for it.........
Without seeing the whole truck it's hard to say. However you would be hard pressed to find an unrestored truck without rusty rockers for that price. Not impossible, but hard pressed. WES

Re: what would you offer for it.........
*Looks* like a nice truck. $2,500-3,000 seems fair if it runs good. Not a "deal" but a fair price.
Go up to NY, that would be a 5K truck

Re: what would you offer for it.........
actually my first 71 in my avatar was perfect in those areas other than dents. no rust holes anywhere, no rust on frame or anywhere else. CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN !! had to sell it when the fiance broke it off with me after 7 3/4yrs.
as for being worth more back east ... ya i know im originally from "rainsylvania the kind of rust" state (pennstate area) to be exact there are two of these trucks in my dads barn rotting away. 2 wd short bed and a 3/4 ton long bed |

Re: what would you offer for it.........
Rotten rockers can mean more, those are only the visible areas. Consider adjacent parts like inner rockers, floor, door pillars, corners and cab supports. Those kinds of things can severely knock your price down. I have to admit that if I knew then what I now now I might not even own my particular truck. I'm just glad I have some welding skills! I still have the nasty pictures! Another spot to look at is the bolt channels holding the rear wheel well tubs. I've seen them entirely gone but with still a perfect looking seam up top.
