Astro Van Hydro Boost
There is a guy down from me that restores old Bronco's.
(He sold his last one for $25K sight unseen on the net) I stopped to see him the other day and I asked what it was (The set-up he was using) and he said Astro Hydro Boost. He said it was the best thing since cookies & milk Anyone here use this set-up on a 67-72? Any thoughts?

Truck was in prep for paint, He mentioned that the PS
pump had to be a certain type, I'll try to get pictures.

Re: Astro Van Hydro Boost
hydro boost was avaialbe for many years on many GM trucks (almost all diesels and large trucks). I have it on my 87 diesel and on my 99 3/4 gasser. basically uses power steering pump pressure to replace vaccum for boosting.
I haven't heard of one on an Astro before, but it most likely would be a diesel (?) or on a work van with high gears where the engine would be running hard (i.e. low vacuum). There's another version call Powermaseter, used in the late 80's on Caprices and such, that uses an electric boosert pump at the M/C. Best stayed away from, unit is pricey and picky about set up.

Re: Astro Van Hydro Boost
i got mine from a 1985, 86??? i really dont remember the year but it was a four door square body c-10... its a verry simple install all i had to do was drill two holes out, bang out studs from new mount to accomudate the mounting bolts for our trucks and weld the old rod eye into the new hydroboost rod.. installed it in about 4 hours including the removal at the you pull it. I tapped in to the return line rather than buying a new power pump.
