Factory tow hooks

I got some factory tow hooks from a buddy and put them on my truck. I put them on with the hooks pointing in and thought it looked right. Then my brother showed up with his '82 and his hooks were pointing out. Which is correct?

im not sure but ive always installed them so the point is to the rear.. this is the only way that any kind of chain or rope will work unless youre going to run it under the truck so id say you got it right

Thanks for the info and the pic above, but those are a different style than the ones I've got.

They are probably slightly different then yours..In '73 pickups did not come with factory tow hooks..... the hooks pictured are actually from the 1973 GMC medium duty parts catalog.....
