Sounds like a butt load of work for something that is marginally safer.
I know ABS has saved my hide once froma small fender bender...but put it in danger at least a dozen times. |

Wouldn't that take a computer and speed sensors on all the wheels? Lots of work, and no computers on my truck!

Several years ago, I saw an ad (and maybe an article) on a "device" that attached to the master cylinder and was supposed to emulate ABS on a non-ABS vehicle brake system. I doubted the ability of the device, and I have not seen any references to it in several years.
My best guess is that it had some sort of pulsating output to limit braking and prevent wheel lock. However, I don't know how else it could do that and not cause an increase in stopping distance. The sensors on the wheels are there to tell the computer that a specific wheel has stopped/slowed in relation to the others. For that input, the computer then allows the brake to be released momentarily and therefore not lock, hopefully to prevent a skid. I don't see an easy way to install an ABS system, short of mounting a 67-72 cab/body, on a late-model ABS chassis. In my opinion, if that is what you have as your goal (to have ABS), then you'd be bucks-up to use a late chassis. Anything less would be a monumental undertaking with a lot of unknown variables. Again, my opinion.

Thanks for responding Fred & Longhornmail, with the some of the extensive mods and upgrades done on this board I thought someone would of done it by now. I just think it would take a "disc brake upgrade" to the next level, however time, money, and simplicity are all factors, later Doug

nascar use an abs that bolts in to the break lines i'am planing on using it on my truck since i'am using alcon 6 piston caliper from bear break they told me about the abs part from BSRproducs.com if you need more info call me at 772-286-7306

I find ABS a pain in the ass, sure its good sometimes, but at low speeds when I need to stop on ice it don't work!
