Re: Finally, I Painted!

it wasnt that hard to paint it. the hard part is preparing the body. i had alot of spots rusted. i sand blasted the whole truck, replaced the fenders, hood & bed. i lookin for a tail gate now, doing some junk yard hunting. still got some spots that need to be filled up, they were pitted real bad. ill post my finished when i clear it. thinkin of tryin a red pearl in the clear to see how it will change it.

Re: Finally, I Painted!

I like it! Definately a different departure from the normal blues, reds, yellows that you see! I really like the way the cowl hood looks on the 73-80s! Have you considered putting some white, or pearl white SS stripes on the hood? I think it would look killer with them! Definately keep updated pics as you finish it! Will be a sweet looking ride when done! Keep up the good work! ...Joe

Re: Finally, I Painted!

nice job, in my opion I would lower it 2/3 or 2/4 or even 3/4 not to low and you don't need a notch in the rear.

Re: Finally, I Painted!

krazylegs.....just my O.2 but i would try (blue mist pearl) it will give the orange a deep deep pearl look and have a purplish blue contrast when viewed at a certain light....Just a option....i did my tangelo blazer with this pearl in the last 2 coats of clear....looked really well.....Also a quick tip....add some ball bearings or glass marbles (oil free) of course.. they will help keep the pearl mixing as you spray......sounds funny but having done a few pearl coats( and sweet pea) has a lot of pearl in her....It works great....

Definately paint if it were me simply because it will look better and last longer than tape stripes will. You've already put so much time and effort into your truck that you might as well spend a little extra time and effort on it to make it look the way that you want it to. Stripes on the hood break up the paint and really look cool on this body style of truck. Take a look at fellow board member Stepside454's truck here on this website. His stripes are even flamed at the ends up by the cowl which I really think was a nice touch on his beautiful truck. ...Joe
