Re: Oil pressure switch.Pitch it ?
If you have factory gauges you should have a sender for the oil gauge and a switch that is used to control the electric choke. There is nothing that will shut the engine down for low oil pressure.

Re: Oil pressure switch.Pitch it ?
It should be right behind the distributor, a little towards the driver's side. If you have a gauge, it will look like a bell, a sender for a light will be smaller and thinner. In 87-up (and possibly a little earlier) it was moved to the port right above the oil filter. The FI trucks integrated the fuel pump switch and oil pressure sender into one unit.

Re: Oil pressure switch. Pitch it ?
I tried to find the oil pressure switch tonight and didn't have any luck, is this something I should be able to see top side? I have the replacement switch already to compare against, just didn't see anything that looked similar

Re: Oil pressure switch. Pitch it ?
Thats what I was wondering. There is no switch I know of either that shuts the motor down when it has low oil pressure. Do you have any pics of what you are talking about?

Re: Oil pressure switch. Pitch it ?
On my 84, the gauge is connected to the plug next to the distributor. The choke light is connected to the switch just above the filter. If you unhook the wire next to the distributor, it will just peg the gauge at 60 psi. If you unhook from the lower switch, the choke light will come on. I was told its a failsafe that even if you aren't watching the gauge, zero pressure will turn on the red choke warning light.
