Drop springs in but no drop WTF

I converted my 69 to disk breaks from a 71 setup new ball joints and such and now that i have it together there is no visible drop. Ive compared the springs side by side and there is a difference. the spring appears to be seated in both the upper and lower spring cups. and theres still a good 6-7in between the tires to the fender wells...the tires are 245-60 R15s

Yeah, I hepled 406 C-10 install the springs. I sold them to him. I had them on my 71 and it had a real nice drop on it. They are from Brothers and are 2" drop. I'm very confused myself.

the age of the stock springs could be an issue, the ride hieght might not have changed, becuase the springs were already "squashed" an inch or two , so your new springs dont show a difference...i dunno, just a thought

I had to send my springs back because it too didn't drop it lower. Come to find out that CPP send me the heavier diameter coils. I installed the replacement and "wham" down it went.

well, the old springs could have been worn to the point that they dropped the height to the same/similar to the new springs.

the new springs could be the wrong the spring rate.
the spindles could be different. one higher, one lower.
the lower a-arm could be different too. one higher spring rest, one with lower rest.

not much else other than that could really be different other than tire/wheel combo, that is, the overall OD.

good luck to you!

if you put a smaller OD on the front and still ride the same, then the spring rate could be hig enough to lift your front end, which with the smaller tire combo, looks like it did not drop.

before undergoing any work my truck had stock springs and a pair of 31x10s at each corner, I measured the hight from the ground to the bottom of the fender lip and it read 33 1/2 in

Now with 2 in drop springs and a pair of 245/60R15s the overall height is 32 1/4 in..... the difference in the tires alone should have done more of a drop compared to the final product.

I dont believe that the old stock springs were much softer then the ones i used they did what they were supposed to on a friends truck before i bought them from him.

Take your stock front springs and using a grinding wheel, "wack" off one coil. This will lower your truck 2". If you want it lower, cut another coil from the other end of the springs. You can't cut the rear springs because of the "pigtail" coils so you'll have to find a vendor that sells them shorter or have them custom made. The down side is that your truck will "bounce" a little but you get used it quickly.

if you cut 1 full ring off, you might find it to drop the truck closer to 3".......I have done this. I sure wouldnt cut any more than 1 ring off tho........crazyL
