Re: Calling all towtrucks and wreckers
Easiest way to tell a 440 from a 480 is the boomsand winches. 480 has a double that will swing out to the sides, along with dual winches. 440 has a single winch and boom.

Re: Calling all towtrucks and wreckers
My old '67 C-60. I sold it a while back, but I used it quite a bit while I had it.
I bought 11 junk school buses at one time, and I bought it to haul them. I hauled them off and several other junk big trucks that no one else wanted to fool with. One of the last things I did with it was pull up some 70+ yr old Holley bushes out of my front yard. I have a few pics of it, but at one point, I almost let the boom go through the living room window. Mama made me stop after that!

Re: Calling all towtrucks and wreckers
Here is one I bought and paid for, but never had it shipped due to size, weight, distance and cost. It turned out to be quiet a bitter rougher in person than the pictures and description indicated. It is a '65 Chevy C60 with a Holmes wrecker body.

Re: Calling all towtrucks and wreckers
If you didn't see it the first time I posted, here is a Holmes 500. It has an old school mechanical look.

Re: Calling all towtrucks and wreckers
Afore I went into the Air Force, I worked for an ESSO station that had a '53 Ford F-250 with a hand-crank wrecker boom in it. Good thing, too. I had to go get my '56 Merc a couple of times and he let me use it. Had a CB radio in it, too....KEA 0724, mobile 2, as it was proper to say.
I like working trucks. Nice drivers are good, too, but seeing one that looks good and can perform is always a treat.
