Found Another Nice Project Truck For Sale
-
Well, actually two more... I only have pics of the LWB now but should have some of the SWB in the next couple of days (after he gets it dug out)... If we can agree on a price on this one I will go look at it this weekend. From the way he describes it, it is a really straight truck. The owner e-mailed these pics to me yesterday so I tried to call him tonight to ask him more questions but his wife said he was out of town at a convention, for a few days. We'll see what happens. The SWB has had some mods done to it but I will have to wait until he gets it uncovered to see what they are and what kind of job was done.... He said he was building it semi pro-street style, Whatever that means. LockDoc

Looks like someone was starting off right and didn't spare time or expense to this point. As quick as you get' em going, you'll be looking for another project by years' end

Re: Found Another Nice Project Truck For Sale
There sure do seem to be a lot of almost finished projects up that way. Here in Texas, it seems either they are finished,or the antennae is the only thing left, sticking up out of the dirt.

Re: Found Another Nice Project Truck For Sale
if the price is right I would get it. As far as pulling the heads.. why do it. The only thing the huurts an engne is water. You mentioned it was stored inside. I would fire it.. and run it to see what you have. Let it go through some cycles of heat/cold etc. Before I bought my truck it sat for 7 years.. and I fired her up with 7 year old oil.. 7 year old plugs, points, wires etc. My truck was outdoors. The entire time. I have another engine I'm currently building.. but this truck has taken me everywhere I've wanted to go. If you get it.. fire it. If it's new, pulling the heads will not tell you anything other than you need to buy a new set of gaskets. I'd fire it.
Good luck. It's a nice truck. The exhaust looks new too. Last edited by Slik69; 11-11-2008 at 10:12 PM. |

Re: Found Another Nice Project Truck For Sale

OK, I talked to the owner tonight and he filled me in on some specifics. He said that the engine is a balanced and blueprinted 350 with new Vortec heads and a lot of internal mods. He said the previous owner told him he had $10,000 in the engine. Is that possible? I don't know anything about built engines but can't you buy a top of the line big block crate engine for that, or a new blown small block???? I think he may have misunderstood the PO and he said he had 10k in the truck including the engine... Any way the current owner said he had $7500 in the truck and had all of the parts to put it back together. He said most of the original parts were usable but he was planning to replace some of them to make the truck as nice as possible. He said the tailgate was mint, the grill and original grill trim was really nice, the transmission was rebuilt, the seat has been recovered, and it had an all new aluminized exhaust system. All of the new stuff has 0 miles on it. I am going to go look at it if the weather ever straightens out around here and make him an offer on it. It may be next week before I can do that... LockDoc

Re: Found Another Nice Project Truck For Sale
It's possible but not likely there is 10K in the engine. If someone paid a lot for a block and then paid top dollar for machine work on the block and heads and bought top dollar internals it's possible, but again, not likely. I did recently talk to a guy w/ a built 502 w/ race heads that he had 27K into.

I went and looked at this truck today and it didn't take me long to decide I wanted it. This thing is laser straight, top to bottom and comes with some nice extra parts. Extra hood, 2 doors, cowl panel, radiator & a bunch of small stuff. We couldn't agree on a price at first but after dickering back and forth for a while we ended up at $4500 and he delivers it to my door (220 miles one way). I'm happy.... LockDoc

Nice score Leon!
Be sure to get some pics of everything when he delivers the trucks. You definitely came away with a steal on the truck, but to have it delivered as well... PRICELESS!

Just the longbed for now. The guy that has the shortie is kind of dragging his feet.. I'm still trying to get pictures of it.
