Help With Carb Linkage 70-GMC

I am hoping that one of you out there have experienced this issue and can help me find a solution.

I just completed a V8 Conversion from a V6 on my 70 GMC Short Box.. I am having an issue converting the throttle lever or finding a kit of some sort. Any Ideas?

Thanks ALL

Does www.lmctruck.com show any pics of the v6 and v8 stuff? My 72 GMC has a throttle cable in black plastic housing. What type of throttle linkage was on the v6? Maybe update it to the newer style throttle cable.

If it's a rod linkage, maybe this will help.

On my truck, the PO just cut a chunk out of the middle of the linkage rod & then welded it back together.
It's been working fine for ages.

Probably a 10 minute job, if that.

Or try some threaded rod. My 66 Chevelle had a fine thread 1/4" rod. It's not 1/4-20 because that is course thread. So, it might be 1/4-24 or 1/4-28 whatever the fine thread may be.

Re: Help With Carb Linkage 70-GMC

It depends on what carb you have. I have an edelbrock with the 1/2" hole at the top of the linkage. Jegs carries the adapter. http://www.jegs.com/i/Mr.+Gasket/720/1512/10002/-1

I got the HELP brand cable stop assortment, picked the largest one and drilled out the hole for the cable to the diameter of the original rod. I think I ran a tap the rest of the way through. Then stacked washers to fit through the half inch hole.

Re: Help With Carb Linkage 70-GMC

I just noticed today that these people have a throttle linkage for 6cyl. or v8's.

And I still have my old throttle rod that was used on my old v8 with the Qjet carb. I switched over to a Holley.
