Aftermarket disc brake kit (track width)
hey guys, i have heard a few rumors that if you install cpp's or ece's disc brake kit up font that it widens the track with of our trucks by 1.5 inches per side, if this is the case i am gonna narrow my crossmember and frame to accomodate for this, have her torn to the frame at the moment, just have not installed the kit yet, cpp 6 lug disc. Anyone Have experience with this?

I haven't used those kits, but I pieced mine together with salvage yard parts. It does widen the front footprint.
I'm considering replacing the rear end with one from a 71 or 72, which widens the rear footprint by about the same amount. The only problem there is that the axles are 5-lug on those years. HomerJ

All of the Master power brake kits we have installed will usually widen track width about 1/2 inch

i have installed this on my truck 6 lug i dont know how much it widened mine but it is quite a bit and i dont want to cut my crossmember down, i would be happy to sell you my spindles and brakes, it has never been driven

ECE and CPP kits widen the front track by 3/4 inch per side for a total gain of 1.5 inches total.
This makes the front the same width as stock (disc brake) 71-87 trucks. I've never felt the need to narrow anything with these kits installed, even running super wide tires on all corners.
