GOOD NEWS!!! 72 gets painted this summer
well as you all might see my comments around the site or see my pcitures around here.... the green and white 72 is getting painted this summer... last summer i apprenticed at the local body shop.. and he put me on payroll and i learned alot there... so this summer after i graduate high school im going to start working for the guy again... the plan is to work there full time and when i get off around 5.. stick around a few hours a day maybe an hor or two and work on the truck... i plan on taking the bed off...taking a wire wheel and scuffin up the frame to knock off surface rust... and then hit it with some bed liner stuff..then im gonna knock surface rust off my coils and everything else then shoot the underside with chassis black paint.. then since bed is off im replacing cab corners. rockers. cab supports.. then i will sand the whole truck after that i prime it then im going to shoot it with a bright yellow and white... i will keep the two tone stock paint scheme.. and then get an all chrome grille with a billet inner grille.. motor was already rebuilt along with tranny.. so do you think this will be a good project for being 18?? not to mention ill buy my own supplies from this supplier like sand disc, body filler, and all that... ill buy my own paint.. then i will spray it myself... i painted a trash truck here last summer.. so im tihnkin supplies will cost around $300-$600 paint included..then give the owner guy $100 bucks or so for using his shop.....sound like a good plan... im excited.. my old man even said he will go half way on the money issue with me... oh and im getting new wheels and tires too!!...

Tim,I think that is a great plan. I can't tell you how good it is to hear of a young man your age, getting out and starting a project. You have already learned a lot,and will learn even more as you go.
Practice as much as possible, and you can paint my truck when your finished with yours. haha Good luck!

Re: GOOD NEWS!!! 72 gets painted this summer
Sounds like a great plan Tim and if you are single ,,even better as that way you can at least get your first truck done before tying the knot.. You know ,,the wives want attention too.. LOL
And I like the idea of you going into a bussiness you like from the start because at your age you can be sure to own your own bussiness at a young age if thats what you would want.. How about a picture as I am knew here on the forum and havn't seen your truck ? papa

Glad to hear that you're willing to work towards something, it seems like the younger generation (which I'm sort of close too ) always wants something for free.
Good luck with the project!

Re: GOOD NEWS!!! 72 gets painted this summer
You're lucky you have a good knowledge of body work already, Tim! I've got a thousand paint/body ideas for my '72, i just don't have enough funds or knowledge to go through with'em. But I guess at 18, I'm lucky to be working for the greats that built my truck.
Awesome plans man, much luck!!
