How are truck prices doing in your area??

I am just curious how the resale prices are in your area.I am in Northern Illinois and the prices have tanked , In the last two months, they have really suffered. I just picked up a solid 72 longbed, fleet.Clean, air cond, bed has not got one dent in it and is solid. It needs motor and rockers, seat cover and floormat.I paid $300. for it ,with a title. I have been seeing 67-72 trucks going for $500. off and on for the last two months in the Chicago listings. What's happenin by you ???-Keith

They are really cheap around here. You can pick up a nice short wide 4x4 for 5-7k or a 2wd with hi-po motor work for 4-5k

In my area South Florida older vehicles not just trucks are holding their high prices very steady. I have been looking for another toy like a chevelle, camaro or barracuda and they are not coming down at all.

Re: How are truck prices doing in your area??

Out here in the desert of California they are averaging as follows:

Super Low: $500 to $1300 for trucks that are surviving but need a lot of attention or have motors that are on the fritz. Local work truck.
Low: $1500 to 2800 Things on the truck needs attention.
Good: $2800- $5500 decent paint and function ability. Minor attention needed.
Low High: $5500-$9800 Mostly re-builds with unfinished or aging areas that need attention.
High: $10000 & up! Whole truck is redone and complete with Total function ability. Mostly big names like Supers, 4x4's, Features like Short beds.

There are still lots of great deals out here for a starter truck or a new truck to start on to re-finish. There has been a 70 3/4 ton in the Swap sheet for 5 months for about $800 now. We also have allot of half breeds. Ridgecrest people like to attach beds off of other types of trucks of all sorts and types to make a truck around here. They just sort of fall into a unwanted group. The local junk guy has the recycling market cornered around here so they are crushing allot of our old trucks here. The people out here are just giving them to the junkyard crusher. The smog rules are tougher now and that plays into the equation also. Awesome thread! I enjoyed commenting on this one. Thanks for starting it.

Just a disclaimer! I am only commenting and not offering anything for sale in anyway. I don't want to get in trouble. I love our Truck Board site. I think it is neat to here how things are in other states or around the world where our trucks may exist.

I cant see this guy gettng 8,500, probably lucky to get 6,000: http://kpr.craigslist.org/cto/925611292.html

this sounds like a good buy: http://kpr.craigslist.org/cto/924701444.html

in our area we dont have too many trucks like ours restored. most go between $1500 and $6,000. i saw a 71 chevy that was pretty nicely restored and he had it up for $6,000. i dont think he's sold it yet

Re: How are truck prices doing in your area??

around me there arnt to many trucks left, and the ones that are are in real bad shape(usualy old farm trucks) most of them are still running at least around the farm yard and the farmers are asking anywhere from 250 and they will remove the engine which is a comon answer, and 500-1000 with the engine and that is for exactly what you can picture a well used minnesota farm truck would look like
now where i buy trucks from are over near south and north dakota, in the dakotas and a little more east into mn from where i live, the prices of our year trucks in those areas, and for that matter most old cars are anywhere from 50-500 for running/ beat up to not running but still in good shape, the few restos i have found are usualy older and tend to go for1000 to 6000 and some of the trucks in that range can be really nice

The long beds are dirt cheap in OR but you still can't really find the shorties.

I would love to sell my 63 but no one is buying right now. If they are, they want it for nothing.

There are allot of Shorties still out here both running and just sitting around. The people in my little town like to decorate their yards with shortbed trucks. I am to a point where I am not going to start over on a build from the ground up, so they can keep sitting.

Re: How are truck prices doing in your area??

Most all trucks that used to be daily drivers are flooding CL. There are a ton of 67-72's in my area going for half what they were a year or two ago. If you want a diesel, NOW is the time to buy. A few buddies that have '69 Chargers sold them for .50 on the dollar, they just fell on hard times. I just wish I had the cash to jump when they were selling. IT IS A BUYERS MARKET for sure.

Hardly any for sale in my area, still demanding a good price for them.
