Header Havoc
Put a set of longtube Hooker headers on my 69 swb 525/th350 and I can't put my truck in 2nd or 1st gear because my factory linkage hits the header as it rotates down. Anyone have this problem? Can I just cut the u shaped piece till it clears my headers and extend the rod that bolts to the frame under the cab or is there a better option?

Re: Header Havoc

Re: Header Havoc
To fix my issue I would have to completely beat one of my primary tubes shut. Not to mention they were $400.00.

Re: Header Havoc
Both Lokar and B&M have shift linkage/cables to get around this issue.

Re: Header Havoc
As far as the geometry goes, the u-shaped bar can be any shape as long as the part that engages the shift lever remains in the same place and you don't cause interference anywhere else.

Re: Header Havoc
I switched to a Lokar shift rod for this very reason. My indicator lined up perfectly with it and shifts were much firmer.
