Made some progress

Made some progress on my 65' project. Thought I'd share some pics.

The first is after the firewall and fender paint job, installed the brake booster and new master cylinder from cpp, fresh painted blower/heater box.

Second is a close up of the master cylinder/booster install. I got a booster from a mid 80's grand prix, the donor truck booster was too big for my clutch pedal master. The master cylinder is cast iron, for a change in the black color scheme I painted it clear to keep from rusting, but it looks like a glazed donut now (not in this picture)....lol.

Next is the power steering upgrade. Steering box from donor (75') truck and bracket kit from cpp. Worked great, cept they sent me an incorrect (fine thread) bolt that threw me off for a good 1/2 hour.

Next is the front cross member or "saddle" as I like to call it. Painted, and now installed. Looks so much better.

And last is my disc brake spindles from the donor truck, cleaned and painted. Note the tie rod assembly, I do a lot of dirt track racing, and we use inner tie rods with the swaged adjuster tubes and heims on the outside. The spindle is drilled to a through bolt and the heims connect to the spindles. Looks cool I think!

Does that HEIM joint make the steering loose at all? Never seen anything like that before.

We use the tie rod tubes and heims on dirt modifieds, running anywhere from 90 to 140 mph all while banging doors with other cars. So the technology has definately been tested.....lol.

I use this on my race car, and the steering just feels smoother. Definately not loose (unless the heim is worn out and there is slop in it), just nice and smooth.

Ya that heim joint thing you have there is pretty cool, ya 90 to 140 would be fun to test out

Your doing a great job, keep it up.

I'm glad I read your thread about the fine thread bolt. I'm at the point of drilling and mounting. I noticed the fine thread bolt in the CPP kit and wondered about it. Thanks for the heads up.

Not alot of progress but some. Hoping to get some wiring for Christmas so I can install this mill and fire it up. I finished running the brake lines for the updated disk brakes.

Thanks for the compliments, that keeps me working on it when I can.

The mill is a 406 (400 .030 over) I got a set of AFR 190cc heads, eagle crank, scat rods, solid lift oval track cam (had it laying around), shaft rockers (had those laying around too), Edel RPM airgap, holley 830hp carb, etc. Should put out about 500 ponies when done. I have a lot of parts from circle track racing left over, so figured I'd use them up. You can see my stock car influence in the steering componants as well as the engine. If the stuff works in that rugged of conditions, it should work good on this. My thoughts anyway.
