picked up a 66 today

I got this truck today. I bought 3 cars. going through the paper work it was originally bought for the locally owned operated hardware store that is now closed. Has protecto plate. Just around 115K on the truck. Even 3 of the 4 original hub caps. Bad part is that its been in the flood. I dont know if the engine is salveable but I got another 250 I can put in. Just wanting a old work truck for around town. radio delete, standard heater and all. It was under $150 and had title so I had to.

Re: picked up a 66 today

Wow! a bit of powerwashing and get it running.
That will make an awesome shop truck.
Just add the old Hardware logo and drive it.
Make the old timers do a double take.

There are 2 trucks like that in my home town.
A '49 or so, that was the city's asphalt patch truck forever.
And a early '50's panel from "Burger's TV"
Both still exist in a pasture, so maybe one day.

Re: picked up a 66 today

The impala is all original down to the am radio and hubcaps. Only thing was it was all green and it been painted white. Its a 4door. I got inspection stickers on it back to 1972 where it was bought 40 miles away new. Too bad it was submerged. The body has very little rust. The flood was aug of 07'.

Re: picked up a 66 today

Really good deal....Is that a 'baby tornado' mirror on the truck ??

Those things were WAY cool on the Vw's and mini truck in the 80's !!

Or was it called a 'baby turbo' mirror ?

Re: picked up a 66 today

...from the looks of the water marks on the dash the whole truck was underwater...you might have to start from scratch starting with the brakes and working up...good score......
