Newbie Here

Hey guys I'm glad to find this forum. I have one for my other car so I figured why not. I have a 1969 C20 CST, I bought it from the original owner for 1500 when I was in college. The truck then proceeded to sit in front of my house and collect parking tickets. Without a driveway, all I could do was play hide n seek with parking enforcement. Well one day the neighbors and their relentless "your bussiness is my bussiness" had the truck impounded. I couldn't see MY baby hauling gardening tools around LA so I borrowed the money, got it out... 900 in parking tickets alone.

Now it sits safe from the parking enforcement.... people, in my drive way at another house. When I got it, I got another engine, I tore it down and sent to a shop. Their work was horrible so I had to get it done all over again. This time it was done right I got a beefy RV type cam, new pistons crank. I built it up, and everything is dead on, mains rods all of it I'm so excited. Next is the Edlebrock air gap intake head rebuild and a dist. This being a 800 plunge, its on hold till after Xmas. I can't do a frame-up so I'm gonna do my best. It's gonna be the nicest daily driver I can make it limited by funds space and time.

I'll post pics asap, its a cali truck so minimal rust.

Welcome to the board! Be sure to get some pics up to show us all your ride! We love to see pics of projects!
I remember when I first started on my burb, the neighbors hated it and did everything to get it out of site. So I know all about the tickets and hide and go seek game.

Re: Newbie Here

Welcome aboard the board.

I got a grip on the "parking enforcement" thing. I have to move my "project" from one side of the driveway to the other; just to keep the "code enforcement" officers off my butt.

Thanks guys

Thanks guys. I will post pics asap, like tmorrow. I've spent some time looking through the board you guys are pretty cool people. Theres nothing like a persom who has the right answer and a good respect for the project truck. I can't wait to get this thing on the road again. Right not the engine is shot. Its been rebuilt twice with out boring. Thus the PCV looks like a coal buring freaight train. I drove it to school one day and I could make out what was behind me. So the rings are shot. Ive built 3 350 engines so far. Once with my dad, once on my own (never got to drive it though) and this time. But now I'm cutting no corners, it will be a beaut.

Thanks!

Re: Newbie Here

Welcome from the Heart of Arkansas!

1500 bucks for your initial outlay, then another 900 bucks? You were at 2400 dollars already! Some people would have given up at that point. Congratulations on having the wherewithal to get it out of the pokey.
