Driveshaft Allignment question
i just wire wheeled, sanded, and prepped my frame and shot some surface rust converter primer on my frame then shot it with some black undercoating.. i sprayed the top of my driveshaft with the udnercoating... people told me that if i do the whole thing it will throw my driveshaft off since i guess it has to be weighted right....i dont think it really matters does it.... should i be fine if i continue to paint up my drive shaft??

Re: Driveshaft Allignment question
I would remove the undercoating, and paint it.
Remember, that thing will rev to what ever RPM the engine is going when you are on the freeway.... 3000+ RPM is not uncommon on the freeway in these. if you have an overdrive, then it becomes even more important since it'll spin faster than the crank. |

Re: Driveshaft Allignment question
I agree with Lonhorn Man.
I had a driveshaft balanced once and I was told to never put anything more than a coat of paint on it. They're relatively easy to remove and repaint if necessary. |

Re: Driveshaft Allignment question
treat it like you would any other piece of steel that you are painting. Remove rust, degrease, sand, prime, sand, paint, clear if you feel the need... then call it good.

Re: Driveshaft Allignment question
IMO, it a driveshaft doesn't need anything more than paint. Has anyone ever seen one rusted in two?
