Steering Column with hi-low and Cruise

I have a '67 Chevy p/u and I would like to move the floor mounted hi-lo beams to the column. Also would like to have a cruise control.

Anyone have one in their setup? And if so what vehicle did it come out of for your truck?

Re: Steering Column with hi-low and Cruise

Matt & I modded one from a 1985 1/2 ton for his first 67 project. Not perfect, but it did work. The keyswitch is on the column also.
Maybe I can find a pic. If not go to the build threads and look for one titled "Sinister" by spray-bomb.

Re: Steering Column with hi-low and Cruise

The thread wasn't titled "Sinister" that was the trucks name.
Spray-bomb's build thread "one really slow build" shows some pics of it on the first page. Here is a link.

Wasn't perfect, but it worked.

Re: Steering Column with hi-low and Cruise

I am having one built . The man told me it will have the hi-low ,cruise and intermittent wiper built in. The column is costing me 270.00 shipped to my door. It also has a late model wheel off of a 88-94 chev truck with sport center. The man says he will warrantee the column for two years. I should be getting it in a week or two. Jim

Yeah no doubt! Let us know how it turns out.

Give us the company and phone # if you like it.

Sounds like a sweet column.

Oh Yeah, that would be SWEET!
Built and shipped for $270.00?! With the cruise controller or the whole set-up?
My intermittent wiper gets tired after about a half hour in a light drizzle(constantly reaching up and turning wiper on and off).
If it didn't move the location of the steering wheel, or was maybe just a we bit shorter I would absolutely Love that!

Re: Steering Column with hi-low and Cruise

Not wanting to make anyone mad here, but I hate the newer steering column with the dimmer in the turn signal switch. I like the floor switch myself. I like the idea of the rest though.

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Andy your not going to make anyone made just stating your opinion. The dimmer switch on the floor was prone to failure because of moisture and other elements that it would be exposed too.

Mostly from muddy wet boots and continue abusive use as this. But yeah for the most part they last for year in NORMAL use. But the fact of the matter is no all condition as normal.

Re: Steering Column with hi-low and Cruise

I have had my 71 now for 26 years and I have replaced it one time right after I bought it. That being said yes I understand the reason for it being moved. My truck isn't a 4x4 so it doesn't see much mud!

Re: Steering Column with hi-low and Cruise

I dunno...I'd be afraid of getting my foot caught in the steering wheel if I moved the dimmer to the column.

Re: Steering Column with hi-low and Cruise

I have gotten my foot tangled in a steering wheel before. It wasn't from driving though!
