Re: people with systems?
thats where mine is its under the passenger side barely fits but fits its a ten inch kicker shallow mount. the sub is 150 dollars on crutchfield. I made the box myself just gotta get it as shallow as possible i had to unbolt my passenger side to get it under there because of that stupid lip under the front of the seat but it works good. Makes a bunch of people say they are about to crap their pants but its all good =)

Re: people with systems?
i got a 12" sub in a box i picked up from my friend... i got it sitting on my transmission hump in my truck... it looks kinda goofy but hey nobody in my town has ever heard a 36 year old truck with a sub in it that pounds!! i dont care much about it so i just drive and rock out to the music just like any other 17 year old would do... parents dont like it too much since its too loud haha

Re: people with systems?
I bought mine with 2 6x9's in a box in the middle transmission hump hooked up
actually kinda looks like it fits because my truck has buckets, replaced the Jensen 6x9's with Pioneer ones today Eventually after I get some paint and body work done on this truck, I'll work on doing the sound properly |

Re: people with systems?
if you remove the gas tank and use fiberglass you can salvage about 7 cubic feet behind the seat but with a MAX sub depth of about 8 inches and that is tight.
i personally am going with 4 10s if i dont cut my cab, i want to go 4 ma audio 18's for the shock factor.. Quote:
as for mounting speakers/amps under the seat(s) with gas tank in place. i am not comfortable with considering i have seen many speakers and amps light fires givin the deficit of gasoline. i think a small centerconsole with a 10 up front will be sufficient for most.

Re: people with systems?
just installed 2 6x9's between buckets in my 72, seats are from a 98 chevy. check out my other post for a description. i can send you pix if you want. i think the configuration would work for an 8" woofer or two, with some mods. Actually, i'm sure it would work. I didn't go w/subs/amp combo yet, because a) i'm on a budget b)it's just a truck i drive about once a week c) the two 5.5's in the doors wouldn't put out enough highs to overcome the bass, in my opinion. my 99 has 2 10's, my 66 has 4 10's, so i know you need some good highs when you rock! By the way, if i do relocate the tank, it will get a box w/2 10's as well. good luck, keep us posted

Re: people with systems?
What year is the truck? I built a center console lookin thing with a bench and it works pretty good (in an 87), lower years should be even simpler.

Re: people with systems?
My four 10" subs are sitting behind my seat. Not much place else to put them really...
My amps are hiding under the seat. They don't really get that hot, and I abuse them, thoroughly...

Re: people with systems?
if you ar looking to keep the gas tank and not cut holes you dont have a lot of options.
you could do buckets and a center concole with a sub in it and speakers in the kick pannels. that would be ideal. |
