Re: My 69 Chevy LWB Junker to hopefully Beauty
Ok guys I am back. Me and the g/f are back together. Got my garage back. We are living in separate house though. I also got a new project truck! My brother gave me his 69 LWB Step Side! Doesnt need as much work as my Fleetside...but it will be fun! Still working on the Fleetside. Pics soon as I go get the step out of Indiana.

Re: My 69 Chevy LWB Junker to hopefully Beauty
Parts are slowly coming in. I have a stack of part catalogs. Been pricing parts trying to find the cheapest route. I finally decided on Hugger Orange for the color with black and orange interior. I am going to get Cragar S/S Rims. 7" Front and 10" Rear. 235 70 15's front and 295 60 15 rear. I have ordered the rims. As soon as I get more pics...I will post them. Its been giving me small problems being an everyday driver. I am going to Indiana soon to pick up the 69 LWB Step for a everyday driver till I get the fleet done. Its going to take alot more money then I wanted it too...but its fun and worth it. I can seem to not to want to replace every last nut bolt and screw on it...and thats what I am doing.

Re: My 69 Chevy LWB Junker to hopefully Beauty
I got a 69 One Ton given to me a couple of days ago. Its a flatbed with a dump on it. I found out the frame is 66 GMC. Its has the 305 6 cyl in it. Got a top loader 4 speed in it too. The cab is decent needs some work. So I am going to fix this cab and get it ready for my truck.

I feel I have a good start on that cab. Someone did replace the rockers with slip ons and that cab corners are done but not good. Here is what I asked before got no answers. I need a little help guys. My cab and doghouse on my 69 is way beyond repair. Question 1. In Nixons voice " I am not a welder!" Should I go ahead and replace the cab corners that was poorly done? Or try to grind off the welds and fix them? Question 2. I have done some welding (ie. Exhaust) Never any body work. I am going to buy a Mig. One from Harbor Freight...only cause I dont have alot of cash for a really nice one. Do I buy a gas less mig thats 110 or do I buy a gas one thats 220...and run a long extension cord from the basement to the garage? Which is going to be better? Question 3. Do I save that 305 6cyl...or toss it. I was told its not really worth anything. I not asking what it worth...I have been told around $200.00...but it maybe forever before I sell it. Question 4. Whats the best to paint the frame with? How expensive is powder coating? Do I just use the kit from Eastwood for painting and sealing the frame? Plans are to fix this cab before I put the truck back together. Its a frame off deal fixing to happen. Thanks guys for any help!

Re: My 69 Chevy LWB Junker to hopefully Beauty
well since I havent been in this thread for awhile now...I have been posting in other threads about this build I will update.
The one ton was stolen. Never got to use any parts of off it. I got another cab, Fenders, frame and hood. The frame is a 72...didnt have the 5 lug and discs on it. The PO had taken that stuff off for his 70. The cab needs some work and I have been working on it for that last week. I am stripping the frame down to bare metal and using POR-15 to paint it. My 87 GMC got gutted. So I used the front suspension for the frame. I also used the P/S box and pump. Everything fit right up except for two holes on the upper a frame brackets... one on each side. I will have to drill new holes for that. My 69 is going to be used for parts to build the new 69. My truck is so far gone I cant save it anymore. Cab, bed and front sheet metal is so far gone with rust nothing but the hood and doors are all that can be saved. I am using my motor which will be rebuilt...its smoking like a freight train now, My gauges, wiring, Maybe my trans...dont know yet...I want a 4 or 5 speed for it...I am using my rear end since it is a posi...needs new gears, too low for highway driving. I have been thinking about using my power brakes out of my 87...dont know yet. I have alot of pics to post...stay tuned guys!

Re: My 69 Chevy LWB Junker to hopefully Beauty
Ok heres all the updates. I got a cab. Decent enough to work it over. I took my 87 Chevy apart and use the whole front crossmember (a frames, brakes, spindles and all) I also grabbed the P/S box and pump. The P/S box fit perfectly. The cab has been a little bit of a bear fixing it back to it original glory...but I am getting there. I traded a computer for a 69 3/4... with a 396 and 4 speed. Alot of good parts. Since I have a 454 for this project...I am using the 396 for my stepper. The bed on the 3/4 was nice. the tailgate isnt so good but I have another that came off the 72 I gutted. The bed floor is wood. I need to replace the wood in it. I still need bumpers. I am getting new ones. I took the 4:10 posi out of Fade To Black. I tried to use 77 axles....but they are to short. I will used the 72 rearend with the 69 posi pig. I will hopefully fix the doors that came with the cab. They need a little work still. I am going to buy a sliding back window for it. I am going to use all deluxe trim around the windows. I am thinking sunset orange for the truck. Yes there will be lots of chrome. Door panels, glove box door, ashtray, and so on in the inside. The motor will be around 600hp. If I dont achive that I will use nitrous. I have a muncie M-21 for it. I will use the shifter hump from a car. I have a set of later model Chevy truck rallys for it. Deeper ones in the back and shallows for the front. I am planning on 295/60/15's for the back and 225/70/15's for the front. I am going to use 3/4 rear springs. I want it to set up a little bit in the back for that hot rod rake. I am also looking for better front fenders. I think I know someone that has them. I just need to get out there and get them. The interior will be sunset orange/black and chrome. there is alot of misc that will be brad new. I havent got the cash at the moment. By next year I will be rolling on it again.
Pics...there will be alot of them guys! The new cab.

Re: My 69 Chevy LWB Junker to hopefully Beauty
Its taken some time. I hear of a truck every once in a while. It seems they are all over the place here. Its just looking in the right driveways and backyards. I have another line on yet another 69 with all brand new front sheet metal. so i am going to look at it. From what I have heard about it...its been hit in the back and has a bent frame.
