Re: New Guy... just bought a 72 C-20

I sold my '94 Powerstroke F250 last Thursday and this is what I replaced it with. This truck runs perfect and it is currently my daily driver! I just did a compression test and all cylinders are 140+ psi.

This truck was "old man fresh"!! The old guy bought it new and parked it under a carport.

The 97,000 miles are original! This truck is 100% bone stock and I love it!

Hahaha No way... first thing I did was take that junk off and threw it in the back yard to rot under a tree... same thing with the gun rack and the old JC Penny CB radio... any garbage that the factory did not install does not deserve to be on my truck.

Plans are to restore as I can afford it... drive and enjoy. and occasionally do tow duty trailering my '67 GTO to the track.

I just ordered the replacement dashpad and seat cover from brother's... along with a few other items
I only want to do a couple mods at this time... I'm kind of on the fence about changing anything since its matching numbers and 100% original... but I do want to upgrade a few things.

Here's the list:

700r4 trans, change to auto column... get rid of the clunky column shifted 3 speed

wider, yet stock looking wheels, maybe 16" and some bigger tires to fill up these huge wheelwells

factory chrome rear bumper

swap to Power steering

fix the A/C, aux fuel tank, am/fm radio

Maybe one day swap in a big block...

That is a nice survivor. Good ole 3 on the tree, eh. Haven't driven one of those in probably 15 years.

Re: New Guy... just bought a 72 C-20

For cheap you can get the hurst floor shifter for the 3 speed, it works nicely. Cool truck, I wouldn't want it cuz I would feel too bad cutting it up

That is a nice truck......to nice to restore!!! I would do some of the upgrades you are talking about but I would not touch the paint if it is half as nice as it looks in the pics. Unless you plan on spending $20000+ and redoing everything, that truck is worth more as a survivor!!!!!

That, My Friend, is one sweet looking ride.

What do you want for the "ready rider rifle rack"?

Re: New Guy... just bought a 72 C-20

The condition of your truck comes as no suprise to me and Special K. We have been saying all along how the custom camper pickups trucks used as recreational vehicles is one of the best buys out there. If your not looking to make a street rod out of it, these trucks offer lot of value for your overall investment. It is odd it has a manual 3 speed for that year since it was not recommended for a custom camper, but was the standard transmission on the base models. But no truck is bought 100% the way you want it. Congratulations on owning a nice piece of history! I guarantee it will get a lot more attention than the 94.
