67-72 Dually?
I'm new to this side of the board, I normally spend my time in the 73-87 area, but a photoshop I saw reminded me of a question I have been wanting to ask for a while. Was there a dually made in the 67-72 year trucks? I thought I remember seeing one in a mag throwing sparks 3-4 years ago. Just curious, thanks guys

Re: 67-72 Dually?
They made duallys, but did not have a bed. They were either flatbed or cube vans or motorhomes. Some guys on here take a 67-72 Fleet box and alter stepside fenders onto it to make it look like a more common dually like today.
Someone will post pics Travis

Re: 67-72 Dually?
^There`s your answer.Only dual wheel cab & chassis models made prior to`73s.The raer axles aren`t as wide and the wheels don`t have 4+' between them like a single or later "Dooley" axle.

Re: 67-72 Dually?
I guess it depends upon your definition of the term "Dually". A dual rear wheel pick-up like they make today? No. The wide axle'd pick-up version didn't come along until the next generation ('73-'87)
There were cab/chassis truck made that were designed for utility boxes, dump beds, flat beds, etc. but they had shorter axles that kept the outer wheels in-line with the body. |

Re: 67-72 Dually?
I figure most of the time when someone says "Dually" they are refering to a dual wheel pickup. That`s how it always was. Before they came out in the`70s we never called dual wheel trucks Duallys. The name come from GM coming out with the first factory-built (in modern times) dual wheel pickups that they named "Big Dooleys",like Tom Dooley of American folklore.
