Headlight Switch Replacement

New year - more projects

After spending a better part of a day replacing dash, column and instrument cluster come to find out the headlight switch - instrument cluster light dimmer is on its way out.

FSM has a rather cryptic description and a lousy drawing covering this subject. Does anyone have photos and a better set of (real world) instructions for headlight switch R&R for 1973-1984 trucks???

Re: Headlight Switch Replacement

HIT OLD ONE WITH HAMMER put new one in.

However if that doesn't work, You will have to reach up under the dash and push the little pin in on the switch Up close to the dash panel back side. This will release the headlight switch knob and shaft--PULL it out. Now turn the nut on the dash outer side with a pair of needle nose pliers or another sharp pointed tool and unscrew the nut from the switch's body. Unplug wires and NOW throw it away.
