1/2 ton, 3/4 ton, 4-wheel drive frame question

What is the difference between a 1/2 ton, 3/4 ton, and 4 wheel drive frame? would putting a 1/2 ton 4 wheel drive frame on my 69 1/2 be a bad idea? what about putting a 3/4 ton shortened frame on my 69 1/2, would this be a bad idea too? all help appreciated thanks.

There is NO difference in the two 4x4 frames. they are listed as the same part number.
