4x4 steering gear interchange?
Will a later model steering box work on a 69 or 70 GMC K10?

I know that the 4x4's up through 78 will directly interchange. I am not sure after that, but they can be made to work.

Like Mudder said on the 4X4 board, you may have an issue with rag-joint splines but it can still be done relatively easy. As far as mounting goes, it will bolt directly to the frame. If you ever consider building a crossover steering setup, make sure you get a late model 2wd steering box with pitman arm.

Thanks, I'll ask here too. What if I just leave the rag joint on the later model box?
