Not so new guy with a new truck

Hey Guys!
I'm a long time board member but just bought my first 60-66.
'62 GMC 305 V6, Four Speed, Stepside.
A little history- Original owner had this truck until his death in the '90s. It was passed down and sat in a garage until last year when it was sold to a man in my town.
He Changed all the fluids, drove it around the subdivision, and it sat again.
I got this Wednesday and haven't slept since!

Re: Not so new guy with a new truck

Couple more.
Only 20,000 miles verified by the meticulous records the owner kept.
Also included original bill of sale, owners manual and several other nostalgic goodies.
I'll keep y'all updated on my progress and will be asking lots of ?????
Like- why is my window so hard to roll up?
Why do I have to run it on half choke?
How do I make a nice wood bed?
And on, and on.......

Re: Not so new guy with a new truck

Thanks to all! Liz told me this side of the board was a hidden gem.I'll try to answer all your questions in order asked.
Interior pics: see below
This is not original paint. Truck was painted slightly darker than original. Looks like they tried to match it as close as possible.
Cost: $100 dollars more than I sold my '69 for. And that's all I'm saying
Rockers are bad, and the bottoms of doors are rough.
The wood bed was removed, but all the metal pieces are in decent shape.
Needs a tune-up, tires, and the usual adjustments.

Re: Not so new guy with a new truck

Oops! Let me resize those pics.
First on my list is to inspect the brake system.
I have a long hill near my house and by the time I get half way down my leg is cramped from pushing so hard on the pedal.
At the bottom my butt is a foot off the seat 'cause I have to STAND on that thing to get any action.

Re: Not so new guy with a new truck

Nice rig... I saw your post over in GD. As far as ruining with the choke 1/2 out that means you have 1/2 race cam... Just BS'en ya. The wood bed is an easy fix if you have the tools. Good luck with your new project and keep us posted with your progress...

Re: Not so new guy with a new truck

I may have discovered the answer to the 1/2 choke problem.
There was no thermostat in the truck and it's been in the single digits.
I'll pick up a thermostat as well as a radiator cap. And a new belt, and some carb cleaner, and.......
Until I run out of MONEY$$$$$

SCORE! What ever you do, keep the V-6! Parts are hard to find but if more of us start taking an interest in the V-6 maybe one day they'll start making parts for us..........fingers crossed.
