Summer Airport Drag Pics
Our car club held a heads up drag race day at the local airport this summer, we set up a 1/8 mile track on the main runway. We raced all three of our classic trucks with varying results. I'm driving the red 1968 (307 3 speed), my oldest son is driving the 1970 Green Machine (305 4 speed) and the orange 1971 C20 (383 TH350). These pics and over a hundred more were taken by the local newpaper, they shared the pics with us.
Pic 1 and 2 (different races) of the blue truck with built 350 about to get his butt kicked by our 383. They lined up 4 or 5 times until he finally gave up ! Pic 3. Me about to get my butt kicked by the coupe.

Re: Summer Airport Drag Pics
PIC 7 - SWEET REVENGE !!! - Toyota that kicked my butt getting doors blown off by our Orange 71 !!!
Pic 8 and 9 - Me getting shut down twice by Son's Green Machine. He also shut down a couple of newer trucks with the 5.3 LS engines, pretty quick for a 305 !

Re: Summer Airport Drag Pics
Where it all began!Thatnks for sharing. You must have had a great time. That`s as American as apple pie and baseball.
Toyota won in the short run.The`68 has already won in the long run.Now put them to work as trucks and see how the Toyota stacks up.

I would take that bet!!!!!! There ain't no way that one of this old buckets can or will keep up with a new toyota like the 5.7 tundra.... You asked how I know? Well 24 years working for toyota and have had at least seven of this tundras as my company demo in the past two years and I have done things with these trucks that I know that my fully built C10 would never be able to do. Now back to the original programming: Cool picts and would love to be able to attend something like that with sylvester!!!

Re: Summer Airport Drag Pics
Did you miss pic #7 ? Toyota getting easily beat by our 71 C20 383, and we are running through old manifolds and skinny 2 inch duals, no headers yet. Also Toyota had 4wd, cam and chip with no traction problems. We spin all the way through first gear, and still beat the Toyota.
Enjoy the pics, and feel free to comment. It went over very well, this was the first time ever, they are going to do it twice this summer. So if you are near Estherville IA this summer, you could join in. Cheap too, $2 admission, $5 to drag once, or $20 to drag all day.

I know my C10 will kill a Stock Tundra,Nissan Titan, Dodge V10, F150 on a 1/8 or 1/4 mile but now as a working truck I doubt it very much. I wish I was closer so I could show what my small block 400 could do.
