Saturday pics (1-31) A quick vid and couple night shots

Wow! Here we are and the first month of the new year is already behind us! I hope everyone is still managing to keep their heads above water out there. When the weather gets bad like its been it gets harder and harder for me to come up with something to show you on Saturdays....but I'll manage!

This is one that Brian has been busting his tail on for a while now. If you've been following my saga of Saturday pics you've probably seen it in the background of more then a couple shots. You may want to turn up your volume to really get a feel for this...Then go back and watch it again but keep your eyes on the tach...it goes to 7K.

I felt like this shot was garbage when I first saw it, but the longer I looked at it the more I liked it. Somethin about that trim just peering out of the dark at us.

Same setup, just a slower shutter.

Can you hear me now??

Brian doing his magic watersanding another buds chevy.

Wifey's 54.

Check out that mug!!

Re: Saturday pics (1-31) A quick vid and couple night shots

Thanks guys! Yeah Christy has been driving the 54 every chance that she gets. It's kind of weather related at this point due to the car still being without heat. As a matter of fact since this car was bought last July I have never driven it while she has been in it. The only time I get to drive is when I'm by myself. So don't worry....She gets plenty of wheel time!

The see through shots were done with a time exposure and the camera mounted to a tripod. I left the trunk/hood open for about half of the exposure and then closed it for the other half. There's a fine line when playing like this to get your light conditions and timing just right.

As far as the engine specs go....You'll have to wait until Brian jumps in here for details. All I did was adjust the valves on it.

Re: Saturday pics (1-31) A quick vid and couple night shots

Well there's nothing special at all about the engine its bored .60 over, flat tops, stock heads,.468 lift cam/224@50 duration,2400 stall. And for the record this is the second time I built this one, the first one ate a cam slap up in 45 mins of running!!!(No I dont know why! Been told that it may have been bad metal in the cam, going to send it back.) The video was the first run on the road with after break in,so the engine had about 35 min. of running on it. So that is the reason Im so happy! I have a good friend of mine that builds engines all the time, And he always says break them in doing burn outs,Give them no mercy and they will give you long life ,Dont know if there is any truth to that but it is fun doing!!

Re: Saturday pics (1-31) A quick vid and couple night shots

You know I've heard similar advice about new vehicles from a few guys. Said drive it right off the dealer's lot hammering away, driving the piss out of it to break it in right and it will last longer. I see that as somewhat extreme but then I am a cautious sort. That sure looked like fun though...

I'm curious about the tach you have in the yellow truck movie. What's it out of and how did you install it?... that looks nice.
